about

I never gave the fog credit for just how still it was, what it meant to be in a static set of ventures, and what sorts of miseries can be locked in under layers of sediment and slow-creeping mosses. I sat in the sun but tried only to hide from its oppressive rays. The least only was required of me, I chose to shirk it. All the strangers had scattered, the pages of books seemed to turn themselves, the pen, having long since ceased to soil the library of notebooks, gave way to song, and I reopened my throat, and out tumbled an imaginary woman who could not possibly have been there at all. Avian wonder, hollowed bones, a deadly original whose humors might hear my last incantation...

Dulcinea!

lyrics

Fog so still
Recount what made you ill
Pondering months of endless night

Sent as floods
Rendering dust to mud
Capturing heathen and acolyte

I knew
I was made as two
Scars where parts were once joined

Squandering day
Whittling hours away
Bloodying knees at altar of time

Years and miles
Hatcheted into piles
Imagine not the end design, which somehow is mine

Dulcinea!
From the moment the redbird took flight
Could not but set woods full alight!
I threw hammers and scythes through black night

I had the wrong idea, but never again, maybe the next, but not in this life

Dulcinea!
From the moment the redbird took flight
Could not but set woods full alight!
I threw hammers and scythes through black night
Their brains bludgeoned, they cower in fright!
Whispering songs beyond earthly delight
Oh redbird I conjured from blight

Dulcinea
